After high school became professional pianist in Philadelphia music publishing house. World War I, member of Coast Guard. Wrote recruiting song "Your Country Needs You Now." McCree, Junie, author, actor; b. Toledo, Ohio, Feb. 15, 1865; d. New York, N.Y., Nov. 17, 1918. ASCAP 1939. At fourteen became circus performer and for many years performer in vaudeville and stock companies. Created the role of The Dope Fiend for vaudeville in which he toured the country. Author of special material for self and other performers. President of White Rats (vaudeville actors' union) 1909-13. Musical production: The Happiest Night of His Life. MacDermid, James G., composer, pianist; b. near Utica, Ontario, Can., June 10. ASCAP 1922. U.S. citizen 1906. Studied piano with Belle Saunders of London, Ontario. Studied voice in Duluth. Minn., and in Chicago with Alfred Williams and George Hamlin. Mainly self-taught in composition. Gave weekly organ concerts several years. To New York 1921. Toured in recitals as accompanist for his wife, Sibyl Sammis, soprano. Songs: "My Love is Like the Red Red Rose"; "Chanty"; "If I Knew You and You Knew Me." Scriptural songs.
